Title: DSF Meta Data During Save Tracks
Post by: Indy33 on November 18, 2024, 11:21:39 PM
I'm using VS 15.0.1 on Windows Pro 11.

When I save tracks in the DSF format, the files don't have the meta data from Discogs.

I immediately save again in either FLAC or MP3 and all the meta data is there.

The DSF format is supposed to save meta data where the DFF will NOT ..... correct?

Hi,

What are you using to play the files?  A quick test here (using Foobar2000) works fine.

You're right to say that DFF files don't carry much tagging information, although they do contain some.

I'm using Adirvana, but that's not where the problem shows up. It's when using File Explorer in Windows. There is not nearly the same amount of Meta Data possible. There is 3 pages of MD in the FLAC file properties. Adirvana shows what MD there is in the file properties

Thanks for this.  So the problem is only in File Explorer?  I guess it doesn't understand the structure of DSF files (which, I have to say, doesn't surprise me).

Just for the record, DSF files use ID3 tags.

Yes, I'm only referring to MS File Explorer.

OK, I guess that's just the way it is then, nothing to be done

I guess VS uses ID3 tags then when it saves the files using Discogs info.

Yes, as specified for DSF files.
