Title: Click removal thoughts
Post by: LtMandella on December 21, 2024, 05:35:30 AM
Since I just upgraded to premium, I feel I deserve one more inane thought about digitizing LPs :)

I notice when doing a click scan that even with very conservative scan settings vinylstudio always detects way, way, way, more clicks than I hear when listening to the rip.

So I wonder, is vinylstudio trying to fix these inaudible (to my ears) clicks and therefore stepping on the rip unnecessarily?

If so, should there be an "amplitude" threshold for click repair?  If it is inaudible, we shouldn't step on the rip?

p.s. Happy Holidays to all music lovers and to Paul for making a really excellent program. It takes a _lot_ of talent to build something like vinylstudio!

Hi,

Scanning for clicks is way more subtle than that!  You'd be surprised what's audible and what isn't.

I wouldn't worry too much about this.  If you zoom in, you will see that the repairs are very small and I doubt you can hear them.  A blind listening test would confirm.
