General Discussion / Re: Search Suggestion

My workflow in these situations is to use the discogs website to search and then copy and paste the release id into VS.

A link to discogs on the 'Lookup Album Online form would be handy, perhaps by making the word "Discogs" into link

OK, thanks, I will report this to the people who wrote the forum software (SMF).

In the meantime, as you say, new posts appear to be reliably flagged as 'New' so I guess that's the way to go.

I used to use the link to "Recent Unread Topics" but if I go directly to "
Technical Support" or "General Discussion" categories I will some times find new posts that RUT does not.

Link I used for "RUT":

Not a big problem, but others maybe missing posts like I did for awhile.

Hi,

I don't think the Discogs API supports that, but I will check.  Have you tried adding more search terms (for the album title or artist) to narrow down the search?

General Discussion / Search Suggestion
Last post by robxbl69 - January 11, 2025, 10:30:56 AM
Hi all, I'm finding when searching on Discogs that some of the obscure catalogue numbers in my collection come back with over 200 results, none of which are correct.

I think it would be really helpful (as an option) to be able to define genre and a year range (1987 to 1995 for example).

What are the chances?

Submerging does not hurt the label if you use a "Label Protector" and it provides a handle for the record.

Evening Paul and Indy33.

Sorry for the slow reply.

Many thanks for the information and advise, although I think I'm going to have to take a simpler approach to cleaning considering the qty I have to get through.

Does submerging the vinyl not ruin the labels? I would be interested in seeing your setup when you get a moment.

I've only just started ripping some vinyl as I wanted to build a new server to rip to. Not all space is for vinyl rips, but I now have a 16TB mirrored raid for important data such as this.

Will be back if I have any questions... :)

Technical Support / Single track fade In/Out is NO...

New to the forums, long time casual user!

I've been digitizing my old mix tapes and have come across an issue in saving the tracks (for which I'm seeking guidance):
1. Each tape side as an album with each side being a single track (since it's a mix)
2. I've added a fade-in and fade-out to each (fade-in to gradually build into the mix and fade-out because the music gets cut off by the end of the tape)
3. I've added fade markers (green/red flags) of about 5s on each end
4. I save the track
5. I then play the track on a media player (e.g., QuickTime), but the fade in/out are not implemented.
   - it's most obvious with the fade-out, as if the marker was pushed to the end of the track (and no fade-out captured - because the length/duration of the track remains the same)

I don't recall ever encountering this before and I could not find any topic herein that covered something related to this. If I missed it please direct me accordingly, else any assistance/guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thx in advance.
