Import a Track to Replace a Scratched Track

Hello Paul,

I just ripped James Taylor's Greatest Hits. "Sweet Baby James" had a scratch, that when I left it unattended, the song played for nearly seven minutes (it is actually two minutes and forty-eight seconds). I have another copy of "Sweet Baby James" from the album of the same name. How can I import the AIFF file saved to my desktop to the Greatest Hits album? If I do Record=>Import Sound Files, it adds the track to the newly created side 3. Can I add it to the correct location (side 1, track 4) and replace the current version?

Hi,

VinylStudio lacks copy-and-paste facilities, unfortunately.  It's a consequence of a design choice we made to do non-destructive editing (that is to say, any edits you make leave the original files intact, in case you later decide to change your mind about something).

That leaves you with two choices:

• re-record the album side
• try your luck with cut-and-splice

Personally, I would do the former.  It's the only way you'll really get it right.
