Hi,

Im having a lot of success digitising my old vinyl collection however I do find that the recording level variations on different records a real pain sometimes. Im using a Cakewalk UA-1G interface at 96/24. There can be a lot of backwards and forwards until I get the levels just below clipping.....
I guess its always better to boost the signal on the analogue side first before it hits the interface and Vinyl Studio rather than boosting in the digital domain am I correct?
Wondered if anybody else had any thoughts on the issue?

Thanks,
Matthew

Hi,

If you're recording at 96/24 you actually have plenty of dynamic range to play with so you can err a little on the low side when setting the recording level.  This might let you get away with using the same setting for all your discs.  Check out also the 'Normalise' button in VinylStudio's Graphic Equaliser window.
